This organization is a chapter of the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association serving apiarists in Madison County of western NC.

This chapter meets on third Monday of each month at the Madison County Cooperative Extension Service Center, 258 Carolina Lane Marshall, NC 28753 (ph. 828 649-2411).  Consult the table below for specific dates.  Meetings typically begin with a pot-luck dinner at 6:00 pm followed by the program at 6:30 pm.  Contact the Cooperative Extension Service Center office for more information about chapter activities and upcoming meetings.

Sharry Mikell, beekeeper and organic gardener, tells about making Bee Naturally products all with beeswax. She will make a lip balm as a demonstration.

Sarah Eshan, an experienced beekeeper, discusses catching swarms and requeening the hive.

Lewis Cauble, the Western NC Apiary Inspector, presents “Let’s Talk about Treatments.” Lewis is very knowledgeable about the effect of pesticides on bees.

Edd Buchanan, long time professional beekeeper and Master Beekeeper, shares words of wisdom.

Annual Honey tasting and Honey Recipe Contests with cash prizes!

October 17

R.D. "Ivar" Schloz, owner of Bee & Bramble Fine Meads in Fairview, NC, will regale us with the fascinating details of how to make honey-based wines.
